Run Eurocode Calculations
How FrameAI runs Eurocode checks automatically after upload — which standards are covered, and how to interpret utilisation ratios and pass/fail status.
Automatic checks
After upload, FrameAI runs Eurocode calculations against the extracted member data. The checks are automatic — you do not need to configure anything. Each standard references the relevant clause and equation.
| Standard | Checks covered | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| EN 1993-1-1 | Section class (1-4), member buckling (flexural, lateral-torsional), interaction formula (M-N-V) | All |
| EN 1993-1-8 | Bolted end-plate connections, base plates, fillet weld resistance | All |
| EN 1993-1-9 | Fatigue damage (detail categories, constant amplitude, variable amplitude) Pro/Studio | Pro/Studio |
| EN 1993-1-10 | Material toughness and Z-quality selection | All |
| EN 1992-1-1 | RC column design, shear, SLS, torsion | All |
| EN 1991-1-4 | Wind pressure derivation, structural factor, zone-based loading Pro/Studio | Pro/Studio |
| EN 1991-1-3 | Snow load per elevation zone | All |
| EN 1997-1 | Pad, strip, and pile foundation bearing capacity Pro/Studio | Pro/Studio |
| EN 1994-1-1 | Composite steel-concrete beam design Pro/Studio | Pro/Studio |
| EN 1995-1-1 | Timber member design: bending, shear, compression, CLT Pro/Studio | Pro/Studio |
| EN 1998-1 | Seismic lateral force method, response spectrum, NA variants Pro/Studio | Pro/Studio |
National annex support
All calculations respect the correct partial factors and parameters from the applicable national annex. When you create a project in Studio, you select the national annex — FrameAI applies the right values for:
- Recommended values (EN standard defaults)
- Netherlands (NEN-EN 199x/NA)
- Germany (DIN EN 199x/NA)
- France (NF EN 199x/NA)
- Italy (UNI EN 199x/NA)
- Portugal, Slovenia, Romania, Croatia, Ireland (selected standards)
Reading the results
Open a completed job. Each tab shows a different calculation domain:
- Members — every extracted beam/column with section class, utilisation ratio, and pass/fail status
- Connections — bolted end-plate and base plate checks: shear, bearing, block tearing, moment capacity
- Welds — fillet weld throat checks per EN 1993-1-8
- RC — reinforced concrete member design per EN 1992-1-1
- Wind — wind pressure derivation and applied forces
- Foundation — pad and strip footing bearing capacity
- Seismic — lateral force method and response spectrum (Pro/Studio)
Utilisation colour coding
Every check shows an utilisation ratio eta = action / resistance:
- Green — eta < 1.0. The member or connection passes. No action needed.
- Amber — eta 0.90 to 0.99. Passing but close to the limit. Consider review.
- Red — eta >= 1.0. The check fails. FrameAI flags the governing failure mode.
Override any field. If FrameAI misread a profile, grade, or dimension, click the field to correct it. The Eurocode engine re-checks immediately with your override. Overridden values are stored in the job record and visible in the audit trail.
Load combinations
FrameAI generates load combinations per EN 1990 for the applicable action categories (permanent, variable, accidental, seismic). The governing combination for each member is shown in the Members tab, with the individual action contributions displayed on request.
